You will need the ignition key to remove the seat on a 2005 Yamaha FJR1300A.
Sit on the motorcycle and turn the key to the “ON” position.
On the passenger side of the motorcycle, find the seat lock. It is a small, rectangular hole with a keyhole in it.
Insert the ignition key into the seat lock and turn it counterclockwise.
Lift on the front of the passenger seat and pull it off.
On the driver’s side of the motorcycle, locate the seat latch. It is a small, lever-like tab located just below the center of the rear of the seat.

The driver’s seat will now come off.
